Description
One letter from British art critic and non-artist member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Frederic George Stephens to Helen Allingham, regarding the announcement of a biography of William Allingham written by Helen, and the request for notes from Allingham's surviving friends. Stephens writes from his own records has notes of Allingham from as early as 1849 or 1850. Stephens shares a memory of Allingham approaching him with the request of obtaining all remaining copies of the first collected editions of his poems and destroying them. He also thanks Helen for her kind note after an attack upon himself by the artist William Holman Hunt, after the publication of some of Stephen's letters. In a postscript, Stephens informs Helen he possesses a portrait in profile of Allingham.
