| Description | Print of a political cartoon originally published in the October 8, 1864 edition of Harper's Weekly. In the political cartoon, 1864 Democratic ticket General George McClellan is drawn riding a horse labeled "war," and smoking a pipe labeled "peace." McClellan is accompanied by his running mate George Pendleton, who is carrying a dove and riding a steed named "Peaceatanyprice." The cartoonist notes that Peaceatanyprice was recently imported from England, and was sired by "John Bull," the national personification of the United Kingdom. |
