One letter from English painter John Arthur Lomax to his daughter, Nellie Lomax Allingham, hoping she is enjoying her holiday in Manchester, and writes that the golf match he arranged was a success. Lomax writes that he was unsuccessful at the Academy, and shares that he believes his work is unpopular and out of fashion. He had hoped to have some success for Nellie and Mary. Lomax shares that he went to Mrs. Allingham's exhibition. He apologizes for his serious letter, but writes that he is happy he can share his troubles with her.
