A photograph of the ambrotype made by H. H. Cole, probably in 1859 in Peoria, Illinois. Major William H. Lambert of Philadelphia in 1902 bought the ambrotype from Mr. Guy W. Hubbard of Springfield, who stated that in 1862 it had been given to his father, Captain William A. Hubbard of the 17th Illinois Infantry, for an act of bravery.
