Description | A photograph made by Alexander Gardner on Monday, April 10, 1865. Mr. Truman H. Bartlett, the author and sculptor, acquired it from Mr. Gardner in 1874, who then stated that only one print was made from the large broken negative before it was considered valueless and destroyed, and that it was the last photograph made on that day. No later photographs were made of the President in life. This single print is in the Meserve Collection. |
