This letter contains racial slurs. Letter to Ransom R. Reeves from brother, Montraville Reeves. Discusses his opposition to the institution of slavery, but notes that he would not be a target for the Rebels just to free a slave. Thinks that the slaves should free themselves, and thinks them cowards for not having already done so. He thought he was fighting the war to end the Rebellion, did not expect to have to end slavery too.
