Description
One letter and corresponding envelope from Irish author Mary C. Ferguson to William Allingham telling him she has been investigating the lyrical works of her cousin the Irish poet George Darley. She mentions a Mr. McGlashan, who could be Mr. James McGlashan, who was an Irish publisher during the 19th century. Ferguson mentions specifically that McGlashan contacted London on Ferguson's behalf and was able to procure copies of Darley's poems "Sylvia" and the "Errors of Ecstasie." She also mentions that the "Nepenthe" was only printed for private circulation. The corresponding envelope is addressed to William Allingham in Ballyshannon and is post-marked May 4-5th 1851.
