| Description | One letter from Irish author Mary C. Ferguson to William Allingham thanking Allingham for the kind wishes for the New Year, which she cordially reciprocates. She informs Allingham that Dr. Ferguson is somewhat better and hopes that as spring advances so will his health. She also inquires whether Allingham has seen Dr. William Stokes, "Life of Petrie" which was just published. Stokes published a book about George Petrie in 1868. She thinks he will find the writing interesting. She also wants to know if Allingham saw American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (whom she just refers to as Longfellow) while he was in the Isle of Wight. |
