The legend is deep-em- bossed in polished copper mounted on a thin slab of asphaltum, weather-proof ink being stamped into the design. This embossed slab is enclosed in a frame of heavy virgin copper sheet. Every Marker is equipped with two straps and buckles of brass, for attaching to the trunk of a tree, and also with two galvanized spears for “embedding’”’ the Marker in the sod (or cement) at the base of a tree. The straps are made of semi-springy brass so as to hold the Tree Marker firmly without undesirably “‘girdling’ the tree trunk. All materials are rust-proof and weather- proof. The Marker has a space provided where- : in the name of the donor of the tree can be imprinted.
