Description
One letter from British poet Coventry Patmore to William Allingham informing Allingham that if he should be near Patmore any afternoon at quarter to 5 o'clock, should Allingham like to look in on him and then walk home with him. Patmore expresses his gladness at the opportunity to talk about a "certain little man" and other matters. On the back of this letter, Allingham has transcribed in pencil an early manuscript of his poem "The Sailor: A Romantic Ballad," which would was printed first in "Day and Night Songs; and The Music Master: A Love Poem" published in 1860, and then later printed in Allingham's book "Songs, Ballads, and Songs" published in 1877.
