Description
One letter and accompanying envelope from Irish antiquarian and painter George Petrie to William Allingham. Petrie writes to thank Allingham for his kind letter. He apologizes for not writing sooner, but shares that his eldest daughter has been dangerously ill for some time. Petrie states that it will be some time before she is able to walk. Petrie expresses his pleasure in Allingham's changes made to the "Nobleman's Wedding," and sends Allingham back a proof. Petrie mentions beginning work on the introductory melody, and asks Allingham's opinions on it. The envelope is addressed to William Allingham in New Ross, and is post-marked March 12-13, 1855.
