Rice mentions that the pension is worth £60 a year. Rice writes that he has read Allingham's "Laurence Bloomfield in London," which gave him great pleasure. Rice also writes about landlords and smallsmen, and how his opinion differs from Allingham's. Rice mentions his desire to travel to Switzerland or France. |
