Description
One letter and corresponding envelope from English writer and critic William Michael Rossetti to William Allingham sending Allingham the Critic of April 1, which contains Rossetti's review of Allingham's volume after two years of being published. Rossetti thanks Allingham for his contribution to the Seddon Fund, which he informs him is progressing well. Rossetti inquires about Allingham's thoughts on fellow poet, Walt Whitman's book "Leaves of Grass." Rossetti addresses Allingham's previous inquiry regarding the translations of Dante. Rossetti also discusses an enclosed translation of a piece of French literature. The accompanying envelope is addressed to Allingham at Ballyshannon, Ireland. The envelope is post-marked April 15-18th, 1857.
