Description
One letter from English writer and critic William Michael Rossetti to William Allingham thanking Allingham for his response. He informs Allingham that he has obtained Shelley's poems "Laon and Cynthia," the volume of the poem "Alastor," and several posthumous works from Algernon Charles Swinborne. In a notation made by Rossetti, he mentions a facsimilie reprint of Peg Nicholson. Rossetti states that he would also be interested in seeing several other original versions of Shelley's poems, and inquires about that possibility from Allingham should he be agreeable. Rossetti poses a series of questions for Allingham regarding living members of Shelley's family including his sisters, and daughter by his first wife. Rossetti writes regarding news of their friends. He mentions that his brother, Dante Gabriel Rossetti is at the moment is suffering from poor health and eyesight, which has dampened his spirits. William Morris is busy working on a translation of Icelandic, and William Bell Scott is working on a translation of a book based on Albert Durer's diary. Rossetti also writes that his sister has been experiencing poor health. Rossetti states he has not yet seen Browning's new poems, and shares that anything other than topics related to Shelley he tolerates begrudingly. In a post-scripts, Rossetti mentions payment for his writings on Shelley.
