Letter from William Bell Scott to William Allingham, July 19, unknown year
Creator
Scott, William Bell
Date
18uu-07-19
Description
One letter from Scottish painter, poet, and member of the Pre-Raphaelites, William Bell Scott to William Allingham asking that Allingham find two catalogues for him, one from the London International Exhibition 1862, and another from Paris bound with dark cloth boards, and the title stamped along the spine. He asks that Allingham send them both to him, so that he may determine if the Belgian artist De Jongh exhibited in either show. Scott proposes that Allingham may also read the two catalogues and write to Scott about the findings. Scott also inquires about what Allingham did about his mention of Ruskin's lectures. Scott hopes that Allingham is comfortable in the Bathroom, and that the girls have provided him with carpet and furnishings. In a post-script, Scott inquires whether he received a package. He also informs Allingham that Dante Gabriel Rossetti is now at Kelmscott Lechlade, and that William Michael Rossetti is beginning his holidays in Italy. He also asks that Allingham reminds the girls to keep the vineyard watered.
