Description
One letter from Irish lawyer and Celtic scholar Whitley Stokes to William Allingham apologizing for not responding to Allingham's letter sooner, but mentions that he has been busy working on a case regarding patent law. Stokes writes that he is glad to hear of Allingham's recovery from his bronchitis, and mentions that their friend Samuel Ferguson had also recovered from a severe illness. Stokes mentions Allingham's work "Abbey Assaroe," and offers suggestions to the work. He apologizes to Allingham that he does not know anyone at Trinity College Dublin who "cares about Art and Poetry and all that." He writes that he does not know John Ingram, but mentions his acquaintances John Gwynn and George Ormsby. In a post-script, Stokes informs Allingham that he has included a translation from Wallachia or Rouman, which is a location in Romania, that he hopes Allingham may find interesting.
