The Dream of a Soldier Boy Verse: Over the foam far away from his home, a soldier was facing the foe. One night he lay a-dreaming beneath the stars aglow. When he woke by the dawns early light, Then he told of his dream in the night. Refrain: All the nations were kind to each other, ev’ry law was a golden rule, Ev’ry mother and son were together that day, and ev’ry gun was laid away. Ev’ry soldier was back with his sweetheart, all the world seemed to smile with joy
And God turned the trenches to gardens again, that’s the dream of a soldier boy. Verse: He’s in the fight till each wrong is made right, he’s doing his share ev’ry day. Fighting for home and loved ones who bless him when they pray. It’s no wonder his eyes were agleam, When he told of his wonderful dream. Refrain
