God, Spare Our Boys Over There Verse: The voice of the country called forth ev’ry son, And nobly they echoed the answer as one. The flam in their hearts dried the nation’s sad tears, Let us pray night and day thru our hopes and our fears. Refrain: God, spare our boys over there, Keep them in your tender care. Mothers are kneeling, loved ones appealing. Angels, protect them somewhere, Hear our fervent pray’r. On bended knee, hear our hearts’ rosary, And spare our boys over there. Verse: The heart of the nation is throbbing today, In one cause united her sons march away. O, mothers of heroes, o, mothers of men, May your boys share the joys of the home fires again. Refrain
