Goodbye Soldier Boy Verse: There come the soldiers down the street, I hear the tramp of feet, Dressed up in uniform so grand, hear the music of the band. A girlie sees her sweetheart true, marching away to dare and do. As he passes by she heaves a sigh and loudly cries her last goodbye. Refrain: Goodbye soldier, soldier boy, you’ve left my heart filled with joy. March out bravely and let them know our soldier boys fear no foe. When you come back I’ll marry you, while you’re gone I’ll be true blue. Don’t get weary be of good cheer for I love you my soldier boy. Verse: Back from the war I’ve come to you, come back to find you true. You promised when I went away to pray for me both night and day. We fought our way through battles dear, we fought like demons without fear, And in battles roar ‘mid shot and shell I always thought of youre [sic] farewell. Refrain
