Description | HARRY S. TRUMAN LIBRARY AND MUSEUM, INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI, The Harry S. Truman Library & Museum, U.S. Highway 24, Independence, Missouri. The library was built by private subscription and given to the Federal Government when it was dedicated in July, 1957. It is now administered by the National Archives and Records Service of the General Services Administration as a research center and Museum devoted to the career and administration of former President Truman and the history and nature of the Presidency. It draws scholars from universities in all parts of the country to work in its Research Room and thousands of visitors to the Museum. The fountains were donated by the Reserve Officers Association. |
