Description | THE PEQUOT LIBRARY, 720 Pequot Road, Southport, Connecticut. Opened in 1894, the Romanesque Revival building was designed in the manner of Henry Richardson. Its fine collections include books on Colonial history, with many of the volumes being originals from Colonial New England. There is also a magazine file with numbers as far back as the 1730's. The Auditorium, scene of performances by many major artists, is considered to be acoustically outstanding. |
