One letter and accompanying envelope from English scholar and philosopher Francis William Newman to William Allingham. Newman writes to Allingham acknowledging the unnecessary formality in the introduction done by Mr. Carlyle, and offering any help he can provide Allingham on the subject of academic affairs. Newman also invites Allingham to take tea or coffee with him tomorrow, Friday evening around 8, if he is not already engaged. The envelope is addressed to William Allingham, at the Norfolk Hotel, in the Strand, London.
