Description
One letter from English scholar and philosopher Francis William Newman to William Allingham stating that he had not yet received a copy of the translation of Virgil, so he assumes Allingham is having trouble procurring it. Newman shares his thoughts about writing such an article, on a topic that is not somewhat elaborated. Newman also expresses his opinion that such an article would not be popular with the public. Newman shares his personal experience with the declining popularity of the classics among the general public, as he compiled a volume of his works and shares that he could easily create 3 or 4 volumes, if they would sell. Newman also discusses that he is shrinking his personal library, but was encouraged not to sell old classics, as they were not selling.
