Newman marks each of his responses to Allingham's inquiries with numerals 1-4, each number corresponding to a separate answer. Newmans paragraphs 1-3, appear to be in response to proofreading issues in articles written by Newman. In these paragraphs, Newman adds changes and justifies his word choice or content. Newman's 4th paragraph discusses the 'Contagious Diseases Act,' and Newman's feelings regarding the topic.
