| Description | One partial letter from English scholar and philosopher Francis William Newman to William Allingham, which includes pages 5-8 of a letter, with a signature from Francis William Newman. Newman writes that he has finished reading Allingham's "Short Stories," which could be a number of books published circa 1870s. Newman also discusses his thoughts on English politics, and 'political economists.' Newman mentions that when it comes to details not principles, he disagrees with Allingham. Newman also mentions India, and calls English policy a 'curse to the country.' The first page of the partial letter has an annotation from Allingham that reads, 'To Froude,' which suggests Allingham passed on the other contents of this letter to Froude. |
