Description | One letter from British poet Coventry Patmore to William Allingham thanking him for the review and compliments of the season. Patmore writes that London is having the same weather as where Allingham writes from; The Thames is covered in floating ice and 10 inches of snow. Patmore informs Allingham that the poems by Ruskin, which Allingham is inquiring about, have been published privately. Patmore states that they would have been good as Woodworth's, if they had not come after Woodworth's. Patmore mentions a letter from Carlyle, which offered compliments for Patmore's poem "Tamerton-Church Tower." Patmore also mentions Tennyson, and American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. |
