Letter from Coventry Patmore to William Allingham, May 9, 1855
Creator
Patmore, Coventry
Date
1855-05-09
Description
One letter from British poet Coventry Patmore to William Allingham writing to suggest if it is not too late, that Allingham publish his poem, "The Music Master," separately from the rest of his poems. Patmore acknowledges that he had previously discouraged Allingham from publishing it separately, but Patmore did not expect it to become such a strong poem, which he calls "sterling value." Patmore apologizes that the fear of keeping Allingham waiting, had kept him from giving the poems a repeated and thorough survey. Patmore writes that Tennyson will likely have a new volume finished by mid-summer. He also mentions Thomas Woolner.
