One letter from Scottish author George Gilfillan to William Allingham informing him that Emerson, most likely the American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, has just left. Gilfillan will forward Allingham's note to him in Ambleside where he will be visiting Miss Harriet Martineau and the poet William Wordsworth. He also informs Allingham of the quality of Emerson's character.
