  • One letter from Scottish novelist James Hannay to William Allingham mentioning his previous letter sent, and hopes that Allingham is doing well by the seaside. He also informs Allingham that he shall like to be in Scotland during the autumn, and would likely visit Ballylough and Ballyshannon in Ireland during his trip. He also updates Allingham that his cousin Edmund, mentioned in a previous letter, is off to Italy after his fiancee died suddenly. He also mentions Millais' painting of "Ophelia," while also writing of other shared acquaintances such as Carlyle and American poet Buchanan Read.
