Description
One letter from Irish official and scholar William Maunsell Hennessy to William Allingham requesting Allingham's opinion on a translation of an ancient Irish story for possible publication in Fraser magazine. Hennessy writes that the original story dates back to the 14th century, and is a severe satirical narrative of the school. He also shares that their mutual friend Dr. Samuel Ferguson believes it to be the oldest example of the "slang" narrative.
