One letter from English painter William Holman Hunt to William Allingham informing him that the Ritualists have conveened a meeting at St. Jame's Hall, Thursday evening at 7:30 to oppose the marriage with a wife's sister." Hunt writes that he intends to go to the meeting with as many of his friends as possible to suggest amendments and to prevent the resolution of such law unanamously. He asks Allingham to come out to support, and provides an address for applications. At this time William Holman Hunt had been married to his first wife's sister since 1875, which occurred in Switzerland as it was illegal in England at the time.
