One letter from English portrait painter Samuel Laurence to William Allingham reagrding a note and suggestion that Allingham had given Laurence, regarding the "Knox copy," the subject of an essay written by Laurence and published in Fraser's magazine in the April 1875 issue. Laurence also mentions not knowing art dealer Dominic Charles Colnaghi or painter Thomas Groves, but should reach out to them and will let Allingham know regarding this meeting. He expresses his sadness in missing Allingham and Carlyle calling on him, and hopes Allingham will try again soon. He also discusses doing a painting based on a photograph taken of Carlyle.
