Description
One letter from English portrait painter Samuel Laurence to William Allingham referring to the letter Laurence had written one month prior. Laurence informs Allingham that he sought an introduction with the art dealer Dominic Charles Colnaghi. He also informs Allingham that Colnaghi called on Laurence, while he was not at home, and recounts his housekeeper's interaction with the man viewing the Knox portrait. He has not yet received a reply from Colnaghi regarding the painting. He shares that he saw the bust done of Carlyle by the artist Joseph Edgar Boehm, and finds that it is not an accurate likeness. He finishes his letter by stating he has hung the Knox portrait in his lower rooms, should anyone like to come see it and will continue to try and get it displayed in a more public space.
