Description
One letter from English author, and husband of George Eliot, John Walter Cross to Helen Allingham asking for assistance regarding illustrations for a book about his wife's life. Cross writes that Eliot had written to Mr. Blackwood mentioning "she knows someone who would do them charmingly - Mrs. Allingham." Cross asks that Helen create illustrations of Eliot's childhood home of Griff House, as well as Foleshill near Coventry, and in Paris, Witley and London. Cross asks Helen to write to him at his address in Kensington. He also sends his kind remembrances to William Allingham, whom he writes he met several times but does not know if Allingham recalls their meetings. The letter's paper contains a watermark for Towgoods Extra Super.
