This instrumental composition, which competed directly with a similar and very successful title issued by the Frances-Clifford Company, seemed to have had little impact, though several copies survive.
Will Wood
De Luxe Music Co., Sole Selling Agents.
Historical Note
This was the only printing.
Will Wood's march was probably eclipsed by Edmund Braham's very successful march song with nearly the same title, issued by Frances-Clifford at almost the same time. In any case, the only evidence of Wood's success are two piano rolls, both issued by the United States Music Company in Chicago. The second roll was released with lyrics, but no corresponding sheet music was published.
Musical Note
A conventional march in compound duple meter, Wood's idiomatic piece includes, as expected, a trio that modulates to the subdominant, occasional walking bass, and passing chromaticism.
