Title | Do with less - so they'll have enough! |
Description | Poster, color, 22 x 28 in., published by the United States Government Printing Office |
Interpretation | As the United States entered into World War II it required tremendous amounts of goods to fight the war in both Europe and the Pacific. In spite of increased production levels, in factories and on farms, demand exceeded supply. The government recognized the need for rationing and price controls to keep inflation down and ensure a fair distribution of consumer goods. Rationing of consumer goods such as red meat, butter, sugar, and coffee was introduced in 1942. |
