Interpretation | The World's Columbian Exposition ran from May 1 to October 30, 1893. The Transportation Building, which faced the lagoon, was 960 feet by 256 feet. In the center of the building was a cupola 165 feet high from which visitors could view the fairgrounds. The cupola was reached by eight elevators. Exhibitors displayed modes of transportation from bicycles to railroads. Flinn, J., ed. "The Official Guide to the World's Columbian Exposition."
