Interpretation | The World's Columbian Exposition ran from May 1 to October 30, 1893. The Ferris Wheel was conceived and built by George Ferris to "rival the Paris Exposition’s Eiffel Tower in engineering ingenuity." It was 250 feet in diameter with 36 cars each capable of holding 60 passengers. The Ferris Wheel was located in the middle of the Midway Plaisance.Bolotin, Norman and Christine Laing.
