Diego José tells Lara he has received his letter from December 1762 and he is happy about the marriage of Lara's daughter. Diego José informs Lara he has sent newspapers, jewelry, and some documents with Domingo Cabero. He also updates Lara on the state of affairs in Rome where they are trying to obtain some privileges for their uncle who is a priest. Diego José assures Lara he has done everything in his power to obtain the privileges, and updates him on the money and gifts delivered in Rome. Diego José addresses the confussion he has about some of Lara's orders regarding his affairs. He assures Lara he will do what he can but the situation at the court is complicated and he does not know if Arriaga will last in his position. Conversely, he thinks Ensenada will not return to power and Superunda's fate is a testimony of that. Diego José is happy to know about the military careers of Fernando, Pedro, and Nicolás. He comments on the situation in the viceroyalty of Peru, his hope that Amat will not last, and the outrage at their uncle's forced retirement. Finally, he confirms to Lara he will not leave Spain anymore and for that reason he is trying to obtain the corregimiento of Sica Sica for himself.
