Description | Late Empire-style bureau with upper tier of three small drawers, on body of four drawers. Upper tiers are concave, small knobs for handles, center one does not match others. Main body has upper drawer with ogee molded front, lower three are recessed and bracketed by applied S-scrolls in 3/4 relief down outer edges, resting on square plinth at bottom of last drawer. Each drawer has two round knobs, brass key holes. Sides have insets, bun feet. Back is marked "Mrs. M.M.F. Barker Chicago." L 40 3/4" x W 23 7/16" x H 45 13/16". |
Interpretation | Belonged to Abraham Lincoln during his residence in Springfield, IL, 1844-1861. |
