Description | Caned seat side chair in Hitchcock style, but no fancy stenciling. Slightly flared seat, rolled front seat rail, top back slat rolled at end, uprights round but flattened, and incised below flattened part. Legs round, front legs have turned bands in sets of three, and further down in sets of two, tapering to very small bun feet. Round stretchers, front stretcher turned with a spool in middle, two stretchers at each side, one in back. Very similar to LIHO 32 H 33" x W 17" x D 16 1/2". |
Interpretation | Used in law office of Stephen Trigg Logan and Abraham Lincoln. This was Lincoln's second law partnership and lasted from 1841-1844. |
