Description | Tree-branch cane made from elm wood. Branch is in a natural state with smaller branches sawed off at intervals from top to bottom. Rustic appearance. Dark brown. L 37" x Diam. 1 3/8". |
Interpretation | Tree from which this branch was cut was planted in the front yard of the Lincoln Home by Abraham Lincoln, and cut while the tree was still healthy. The tree was felled in 1906 by lightning strikes and Dutch Elm disease. |
