Print area background darker and impressed, creating a self-mat "frame", printed signature on mat, signed in pencil: "Abraham Lincoln Home. Virginia Stuart Brown" & "Print 7- edition I." L 5 3/4" x W 4 3/4". |
Interpretation | Virginia Stuart Brown served as the last caretaker of the Lincoln Home for the State of Illinois, and because of renovations to the Home, she was also the last resident. She was a direct descendant of Abraham Lincoln's first law partner, John Todd Stuart. |
