Elliot, 322 Washington St. Poem stanza is found on each side of the title. Scene depicts an angel waving farewell to youth in gondola-type vessel. Youth looks to celestial palace in the sky. H 21" x W 26 1/2". |
| Interpretation | Taken from an original Cole painting that was part of a series depicting the various stages of life in an allegorical fashion. A later photo of Lincoln's bedroom shows the first print in the series ("Voyage of Life-Childhood") on the wall but it was not available so another in the series was acquired. |
