Smith expresses his hope Helen will not give up her profession after being married. Smith writes being engaged is nothing compared to being married, and hopes for Helen's happiness. Smith informs Helen his wife, Louisa, will write to Helen on her own. Helen writes a note on the last page, "My cousin, very eminent oculist," and signs her initials H.A.
