| Interpretation | Mr. Cole, shown at his forge in Newhaven, Massachusetts was a shipsmith and maker of whalecraft. Whaleships carried a large amount of special gear and equipment including whalecraft (lances, harpoons and spears) and gear for preparing whale blubber - much of which was forged by hand. |
