Title | Slide, Magic Lantern |
Description | A rectangular glass slide with a handpainted scene of four groups enjoying spring and summer activities: two people flying a kite, a man and his dog setting off on a hunt, two girls picking flowers, a boy chasing butterflies with a net. |
Interpretation | Magic Lanterns were projectors which made a small, handpainted image project on a large screen. Shows were held in theatres; children had toy magic lanterns as well. |
