Description | The Nelson Jones home, south of Towanda, was the first of several large Italianate farmhouses built in McLean County. |
Interpretation | At the time called modern, this Italianate style house was built by Nelson Jones. He call it Home Park Place. Italianate houses featured flat roofs which extended over the walls and were supported by fanciful carved wooden brackets. Collectively, these houses are still among the most impressive country homes in the county. |
