Title | Road to the Pyramids--Westward Toward Gizeh |
Description | Black and white stereograph slide, #T232 from Tour of the World series, vol 5 and 6. |
Interpretation | Text on the back of the slide indicates that the image shows an irrigation canal and the road from Cairo toward the pyramids. Text reads as follows, "The nearer one is the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops); the Sphinx stands farther to the left (south) at this side of the large pyramids. The summit of the tallest pyramid stands more than 450 feet above the drifting sands, where its base covers nearly thirteen acres. |
