Interpretation | In the 1850's, the people of Champaign County brought their best farm producs to show and compare with those of their neighbors. Families used to bring large picnic baskets. The Fair was originally held in Urbana on the big grove east of today's Court House. Families travelled from 20-30 miles away to attend. Games and contests were held for the children. The first fair that was organized by a committee was held in 1852. |
